Basic Pancakes

🥞 BASIC PANCAKES RECIPE

Ingredients (Makes 8–10 pancakes)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (or vegetable oil)

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)


Instructions

1. Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together:

  • Flour

  • Sugar

  • Baking powder

  • Salt

Make sure everything is evenly combined.


2. Mix the Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together:

  • Milk

  • Egg

  • Melted butter

  • Vanilla (optional)

Whisk until smooth.


3. Combine Wet & Dry

Pour the wet mixture into the dry bowl.
Gently stir until just combined—do NOT overmix.
A few small lumps are normal and make the pancakes fluffy.


4. Heat the Pan

Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Lightly brush with butter or oil.


5. Cook the Pancakes

  1. Pour about ¼ cup of batter for each pancake.

  2. Cook until bubbles form on top and edges look set (1–2 minutes).

  3. Flip and cook another 1–2 minutes until golden brown.


6. Serve

Serve warm with:

  • Butter

  • Maple syrup

  • Honey

  • Fresh fruit

  • Whipped cream


Optional Add-ins

  • Chocolate chips

  • Blueberries

  • Banana slices

  • Cinnamon

* 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 egg, slightly beaten
* 1 1/2 cups milk

INSTRUCTIONS:
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine egg and milk; add to flour mixture, stirring only until smooth. Blend in melted butter. Cook on a hot, greased griddle, using about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake.
